Sutton 2 months

On August 2nd just two days shy of your 2 month mark you gave us a good 10-6 stretch. You continued to do this 5 out of the next 7 days. It really was nice to begin to notice some predictability. It seems like if you sleep that long stretch you eat real fast at 6 and then sleep until 9 *(something we all could get used to)* We wish your fussiness would slow down but it seems like we may be a few months away from that! We still love you sweet girl--fussiness and all! I love starting to get some smiles FINALLY! Just like your brother you have taken your time giving us smiles but we know you will come around soon enough. I hate seeing you cry and upset and we really can't wait for you to outgrow your fussy stage!

2 Month Stats:
  • Weight: 11 pounds 1 ounce
  • Height: 23.5 inches
  • Diapers: Pampers size 1
  • Clothes: you have outgrown all your newborn clothes. You now wear 3 month
  • We upgraded from the swing to the Mama Roo (thanks to Aunt Meghan's suggestion). You don't really hang out in it but you enjoy the rocking motion that will put you right to sleep for your naps. We still lay you straight in the pack-n-play at bedtime
  • We also bought a miracle blanket to help keep your arms good and swaddled. It has made a great difference in your sleep patterns. You stay swaddled for all naps and at bedtime and it keeps you good and tight just how you like to sleep for now!
  • You have started to give us a few smiles here and there. Usually you are most expressive right when you wake up. If we get real close to your face you will smile and coo
  • You have definitely fallen into a more predictable routine. You have most recently been sleeping until 6 am and then go back to sleep until 9 am. Then you feed about every 3 hours. Around 5 pm we throw our hands up because sometimes you will nap for a few minutes and other times you are up and fussy and I am still trying to figure out if you are extra hungry, extra fussy etc. You start bath time at 8 and are asleep by 9.
  • You take great naps during the day and would take 2 good 4 hour naps if I let you. However, I have been waking you up after 2 hours of sleep or so trying to get you into a routine. You will generally eat, play for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then I will wrap you in your blanket, put your paci in your mouth and place you in the mama roo. Sometimes you will cry for 10 minutes or so and I will place gentle pressure on your chest until you doze off and other times you drift right off into sleep.
  • I wish you liked walks and car rides but for now you scream your head off in the car and aren't the biggest fan of walks around the neighborhood.
  • You have gotten a little baby acne here and there but not as much as I remember with your brother.
  • Your cry still makes me feel so uneasy and sad. You will cry soo loud and your face turns red and it feels like you stop breathing as you take a deep breath and scream so loud. I just haaate to listen to you be so upset!
  • You usually just take a paci when trying to fall asleep and then spit it out. You don't really like it any other time of the day
  • You loveeee baths. Sometimes I will put you in a bath in the morning if you won't sleep around 11 am and you just look so peaceful. You will actually relax your fists and you just look around.
  • You love staring at the ceiling fan. You will lay pretty peacefully on the bed just staring at it.
  • You looove sucking on your fists. Especially your left one. You will stick the whole thing in your mouth and just suck away. I am interested to see if you are going to be a finger sucker like your brother
  • You don't spend much time on your tummy so we will work on that this next month. However, you have some great head control already.
  • You haven't had many bottles but when we give you one you gulp it right down. I probably need to get more consistent with giving you a bottle.
  • You won't let anyone sit down with you ever. It's amazing how you just somehow know when someone goes from standing with you to sitting but you let everyone know. Soo we spend many hours a day just walking around holding you facing out.
  • Mommy tried the dairy free diet this past month to help control some of our fussiness. Unfortunately, I don't think it was dairy affecting your mood. The doctor has officially termed your unhappiness as colic ...your brother was just the same and we know you will outgrow it and we just look forward to seeing you a bit happier!

We are so grateful for our little baby girl! You are a our little angel and we are so incredibly thankful that you are healthy and growing and all girl. We just can't get enough of your little headbands and girly outfits! We love watching you grow and change each day sweet girl!!
