23 Weeks

This has to have been the most fun week so far! Crawford is hilarious and I love watching his daily discoveries...He first found his little toes and it was just the other day that after pulling his socks off and eating them he could finally get those little toes in his mouth...and please when he loses his toes he gets soo upset...
He also has learned to full on flip from back to front and front to back...it started with him just flipping from his back to his tummy and he would squirm all about not sure what to do next and then sure enough a few days later he would get up in that half push up/half yoga pose and poke his head around like a turtle and then starting flopping to his back...he thinks he is just amazing when he accomplished this so we sing his praises each time!
He also scared me the first night he decided he wanted to sleep on his tummy this past week because I kept thinking "oh goodness he can't flip back over and what if he gets lazy and plops his face straight into the sheets and can't breathe" so after one sleepless night of checking on him literally every 2 hours ...I realized that he was going to be ok...but that night man I was running in there each time I awoke because he would be in a different position and I couldn't tell on the monitor if he was breathing so I would sprint to his bedroom and almost start patting his cheek to make sure that he was indeed alive...he loves to lay on our bed and snuggle up to a pillow and turn halfway on his side/tummy and suck his fingers and take a nap and it's just precious!
He also decided that he doesn't like nursing and then going straight to his crib anymore he now wants to be rocked after eating...I thought oh man we had this great routine...but ...I just loooove rocking him..sometimes I drift off to sleep too and sometimes I sit in there with him for 20 minutes after he falls asleep just because it might be the cutest thing to have him sleeping in my arms...guess I'm making up for lost time in that whole newborn stage when C didn't want to sleep ever and always wanted to be awake
My days off are so easy now and I just love knowing that I get to spend the whole day with just me and C. We go to the gym in the morning and that ladies there take great care of him, then we run a few errands or have lunch with Brad and then come home for a meal, he then usually takes a long nap and I do things around the house and it makes me wish I could spend every day with him at home!
I love when we get him laughing...tonight at dinner I kept making Sophie (the teething giraffe) pop out at him and he thought it was hilarious he was laughing so loud in the restaurant that Brad told me to stop because it was so loud...it was soo cute and I didn't care...I love moments like that and even though it started monsooning and ruined our outdoor dinner affair the moment I shared with C when we moved inside and his hysterical laughing took all the stress of the rained out dinner away

He is able to stretch and arch his back almost all the way out of the bumbo so we can't even turn out backs when he is sitting in it.

These are typical evenings in the Redd household..I spend countless number of hours each week hand washing all my bottles and pumpers to get ready for the following day

Got to love his attention span when mommy is trying to take pictures and trying to say anything to get him to smile!

This is so funny...I guess Grandpa rocks C in the glider and left C a "piggybank" full of change on his night stand...it had us rolling...only Papa Redd would do this

This was the infamous morning after I was up every hour or so checking on C who decided he would start sleeping on his tummy

"What do you mean you were worried? I'm fine mommy just chilling on my tummy."

"I'm already a pro at sleeping on my tummy you have nothing to worry about mommy"

See those flowers in the background...daddy turned around for a minute the other day and C decided he wanted to eat that pretty pink one and pulled the whole vase of flowers over..there was pollen on his head and man what a mess.

C's Personality

We've had so much fun watching C change over the past few weeks. We don't always have the camera close by so we improvise with the iphone to catch his adorable personality on camera. I had put C down for a nap and when he was out I snuck away to grab a picture and he caught me!

Just a day with C and me hanging at the house!

Getting C ready for a day at Nana and Grandpa's before we left for a wedding outside of Charlotte

Easter Pictures

We had some pictures made right before Easter so Crawford was almost 4 months old...He was just at this point really giving us lots of smiles on queue. Well the pictures were outside and Mister "I can't sit still when I'm outside" was for sure not going to give us ONE single smile the whole photo shoot. It was adorable because the photographer had a real live bunny. I felt like she took way too many clients on at this time and I am not 100% happy with the pictures buttt she is really affordable and I got to dress C up all cute and have Easter pics from his first Easter. C loved the bunny although this was right at the time he started putting everything in his mouth so he was totally grabbing the bunny's skin attempting to bring it to his mouth! "Hey mommy, yeah you and that lady and daddy all making crazy sounds trying to get me to smile...totally not gonna work"

"Hey gus I love this bunny...but you see I'm not strong enough to sit up by myself so daddy if you could help..."

"Alright something just caught my eye...was it a bug? Oh who knows but being outside is soo cool"

"Hey guys if yall were smart you would have brought my owl toy because anytime you make it vibrate I totally stare you down...you guys struggle"

"Hey laying on the ground it totally not comfortable"

"I really like this bunny...but guys I'm still not going to smile"

"This nest is really uncomfortable...how bout you guys try laying in a bed of prickles"

"wow...guys yall are trying way too hard and I'm just going to look at you guys all serious so that you know I'm not going to smile"

Well in case you were wondering...we spent an hour trying everything to get C to smile for one picture....It seems so funny to think that was a problem then because now I have no double that Mister "I'm an attention hog" would just smile it up for the camera..just goes to show how fast they do change..although I still think outside photos would be hard because C is so busy watching every little thing that is going on outside he may be too preoccupied...anyways literally after the pictures I took him straight to Brad's job and he was smiling for everyyyyone...too funny! Oh well guess that's how it goes sometimes...I still think he's precious as a button and I will always remember having his first Easter pictures made!

5 Months

My sweet boy is 5 months old..I feel like he is such a big boy already...now that I am carrying him on my hip (ya know he isn't a newborn anymore that needs to have his head supported)..he is full on sporting his adorable self on my hip and I just loooove carrying him around! He is soo squirmy and literally is kicking those legs or putting annnnything and everything he can get his hands on in his mouth...and I am loving my little boy!

5 Month Stats

  • Weight- ~ 15 pounds

  • Length -

  • You are wearing size 2 diapers and wearing 3-6, 6 and 6-9 month clothing. All of your shorts and pants even 3-6 month are still pretty big in the waist so 1 piece outfits definitely fit the best

  • You sleep from about 9:30 - 8ish....and we are just so lucky that you sleep through the night each and every night!

  • You still don't nap very well for me (but I take you on the adventures of Christen's life on my day's off) so you have a muccch better routine on your days with Grandpa. I know he can always get you to take at least one 2-3 hour nap (me not so lucky)

  • You are still a great eater and take bottles just wonderfully for Grandpa and then I nurse you either before and/or after work. You take about 6 ounces of milk in your bottles and probably eat about every 4 hours.

  • You are still suuuuper fussy after 5:00 (I mean I thought this would all go away by 4 months)...we have tried everything to remedy this...more naps during the day, more milk at night, tried solids, no such luck yet but I still think it's because you are overtired from your day

  • You still love going on errands and on walks in your stroller

  • We attempted rice cereal and while I think you enjoyed eating off the spoon (even though you always wanted to hold it yourself) you started vomiting 2 hours after eating it. It didn't matter if we gave you just a little or a lot so I stopped for about a week and tried again with a different rice cereal and the same thing happened so I believe we are going to wait until 6 months to start solids

  • We just love your new discovery of your feet and how much time you can spend being entertained by your own 2 feet! You will tried to grab for them and you can pull your socks off and then eat your socks (probably your favorite!)

  • You also can now get just about anything in your mouth (which makes me nervous when I set you down on your favorite brown rug because I am always scared you will find one of mommy's bobby pins) but you can get part of any item in your mouth no matter how big or small you will find away to get it in your mouth...you even attack your car seat straps when you catch them in your line of sight.

  • You used to cooperate when going out to meals but that lasted for about 2 weeks and now there is nooo way you are going to sit through any sort of meal...so it was sure fun while it lasted

  • You really like being rocked to sleep now (it must be from grandpa and nana rocking you to sleep) but I actually love it and find it adorable when you suck your pointer and middle finger and just pass out in my arms

  • You are soo happy when you wake up and will play in your crib for a good 20 minutes before whining at all and it is soo much fun to come and get you after you wake

  • You had your first beach weekend this month and loved it

  • You spent the night with Nana and Grandpa for 1 night and did great

  • We can really get you laughing if it's just the right time of the day and of course if we do the funniest things (aka just kiss all over your little neck and tummy and/or make silly sounds)

  • You still are startled so easily and if I am feeding you and you hear anything out of the ordinary like daddy opening a drawer or mommy talking on accident that heads whips around and has to see what's going on

  • You are playing much better in your exersaucer and the walker and it's fun to watch what a big boy you have already become

  • You love standing...you just love bearing all your weight on those legs and checking everything out

  • You love when you are either a) on the ground and we are standing above you or b) when we hold you up above our heads...I don't know it must be your view from these angles but you are just so happy when in either of these positions

  • You still don't care to roll from your stomach to your back or vice versa you instead prefer to arch your back and squirm in every other fashion imagineable.

I so look forward to these next few months and watching all of the adorable new things you learn to accomplish! I literally miss you after just a few hours away from you and I just can't stop looking at you when you are awake...I will stare at the monitor when you are sleeping and I will follow daddy around the house when he takes you from me to give me a "break" from holding you...I just don't want to miss anything that you do and I love your adorable smiles and I love how sweet you look when you suck those little fingers and I love knowing that you eat and sleep well and are growing every day! Thanks for bringing so much joy to our days...You are the first thing I think of in the morning and I look at you in the monitor before I even look at the clock to see the time...I keep you right next to me before I go to sleep and I just wish I could snuggle you in the bed and never let you go...I know the second that you are mobile you will want nothing to do with us because you are already checking our your escape route everywhere we go...you loooove to move and you never stop...your legs literally are always moving and I just know the second you are mobile we are going to really have our hands full! Stay sweet little Crawford and I can't wait to see what this next month brings!
