Sutton 3-4 weeks

Well around 3 weeks you started staying awake a whole lot more. You didn't know what to do during this whole new phase so you cried A  LOT! We have experimented with swings, bouncy seats, rockers, car rides, walks around the house, baby bjorn and we haven't quite nailed down what makes you happy. You are certainly most content when we are holding you walking around with you OUTSIDE. Once you are good and relaxed and about to go to sleep you will dose off in your swing pretty well for us. As far as eating goes you have put mommy through the ringer these past weeks. We just hit our peak of pain for mommy. I was getting so uncomfortable and dealing with all sorts of blisters from nursing. Thanks to my amazing lactation consultant she was able to see that you are such an aggressive nurser that you cause compressions that result in vasospasms to mommy. This results in pain for hours after I finish nursing you. It seems that me being cold makes this whole process worse and is referred to as Reynauds Phenomenon. I spend lots of time taking showers, using the electric blanket, and heating pad to stay warm so that I am in not such intense pain while feeding. I have started taking blessed thisle and fenugreek just to make sure I have enough milk for you. Ibuprofen help keeps inflammation down and has also helped control some of the pain. You sleep in 2.5-3.5 increments during the day. At night you usually sleep at least one 4 hour stretch. The other stretch is usually anywhere between right at 3 hours and up to 6 hours at a time. You almost always have a nice warm bath (that you absolutely love) before eating and going to sleep around 10:30. You will then wake up usually anywhere between 2-5 for the first time. I love watching you in the bath because you are sooo relaxed at at ease. You look so chill and just love every second. You hate having your diaper changed (but really who would.) You usually wake up starving as in you are screaming within minutes. Over the past few days I have tried to watch you better so that I can catch you before you start really getting fussy. You usually eat then stay awake then once you start getting fussy we start putting you to sleep. Sometimes it works great and you are out and we can lay you anywhere and you will peacefully sleep. Other times we have to hold you because you just can't get into a deep sleep. You usually will take a pacifier for about 10 minutes and sometimes it helps you doze off to sleep. You HATE the car. Your brother loved the car so this has taken some getting used to. You can be in a deep sleep but when we get in the car you scream so loud (it sounds like you stop breathing it is that terrible of a scream). When you are awake and happy it's just amazing to watch you take in everything. We have loved watching you grow these past few weeks. You are up to 8 pounds 13 ounces so you are certainly packing on the pounds.

You went from only taking this soothie pacifier to wanting nothing to do with it.

Daddy is such a great helper. He always takes you to change your diaper and get you ready before I feed you. Oh and that brother of yours back there he has been having an amazing summer hanging out with daddy.

Aunt Cat has been here every other week. She is so amazing with you. She rocks you to sleep, gives you a bath, and spends time with mommy and we just LOVE having her here!

Your first trip to Publix was when you were 2.5 weeks old. We left right after you ate to go and you didn't make a peep.

We spend our evenings walking around outside with you and you just love it outside.

Daddy often gets up with you in the morning and lets mommy sleep a while longer. He makes his coffee and you snooze away.

We always swaddle you tight but those arms make their way out right above your head

Your first few smiles were while you were sleeping and it's too cute to watch those lips turn into a big smile.

Craw got an exciting gift when his sister arrived--
A thomas the train bike!

Within two days he was cruising on his own. We were so proud of him. I can't believe how fast he picked up riding his little bike but he looks adorable and he screams "full steam ahead" after Thomas peeps that from this bike.

We take lots of walks to the pool in the evening. Usually daddy and Crawford will go ahead without us. We will walk and then watch them play in the pool for awhile.

I was trying to feed Craw lunch and keep her asleep and clearly I do not have this under control.

Craw and daddy at the pool. He has been getting braver with each pool visit. He now swim across the pool holding the noodle by himself. He can also make it around the pool while holding onto the ledge.

Craw likes to say "it's ok baby Sutton" when she is getting fussy.

At about week 3 she no longer would take the soothie paci. I didn't know what to do. I went and grabbed the first paci we tried and boom success. She has liked it ever since.

We love evenings on the driveway playing with Craw's car and scooter

Papa is still just the sweetest with his babies. He loves holding Sutton and she ALWAYS just lays her head on him and snoozes.

Every time Hope and Carter visit they are so interested in Sutton. They are so sweet to her and both love holding her.

Nana loves holding her baby Sutton too!

It's only happened twice but here Craw said "let me hold baby Sutton" and he cheesed and soaked it all in before concluding that she was "very heavy."

I still love my sweet time with Craw. We download learning games and I love watching his memory at different games. We have been playing hooked on phonics and trying to learn rhyming words.

Craw helped put his bike together and was so proud of himself.

Aunt Meghan taught us that early bow wearing is key to having toddlers keep bows on their head. We just have to get Papa on board ;)

Sweet girl is almost a month old. We have fallen so in love with her already. We lovingly refer to her as Suttina! She has her official first nickname.
